Nelson PEYTON of Kentucky and Indiana
Nelson PEYTON of Kentucky and Indiana was the son of Lewis PEYTON a Revolutionary War soldier of Amherst County, Virginia. I found two other sons of Lewis PEYTON, although according to his Revolutionary War Pension (S.17003) it appears there were definitely others. Lewis PEYTON has been proven as a DAR Patriot, but the only child of Lewis PEYTON that I found in the DAR records is the aforementioned Nelson PEYTON who is proven by his father's war pension:

Lewis Peyton/Payton was an early pioneer of Indiana and Kentucky. His wife was Winifred Followell and they had as many as 12 children. Most if not all of the children were born in Stanford, Lincoln Co., KY. They had James 1787, Abraham 1789, Nimrod 1791, Lewis 1791, Augustus 1793, Frances 1796, Isabel Nancy 1798, Theodocia 1799, Nelson 1801, John 1802, Bluford 1805, and Demarcus. Lewis Peyton's stone is the only readable stone and it is said this was an old indian burial ground. There are 29 graves marked with fieldstones.
